Patient Consultation
When you refer patients who are interested in dental implants as a treatment option, we will contact them directly to arrange a convenient appointment for one hour consultation with one of our team.
The clinician will listen carefully to your patients needs and then explore options open to your patients: including, the process, timings, costs and the on-going maintenance.
This discussion is then supported by a written and itemised treatment plan which is presented and discussed with your patient.
Surgical Phase
Once we have received signed consent from the patient to proceed with treatment, appointments will be mutually agreed between the patient and our team for the surgical phases.
All compliance issues and collection of fees will be taken care of by us, for the phases of treatment we undertake.
We follow stringent cross infection protocols to achieve the highest standards of sterility and surgical protocol in our dedicated implant surgery. Our team is fully trained in surgical techniques and procedures.
Patients are reassured, prepared for surgery and sedated, if appropriate and requested, using oral or intravenous conscious sedation and treated in the surgery. Following recovery, necessary radiographs are taken and the patient is discharged to their escort for their journey home.
Contact will be made with the patient the following day to confirm that the patient is comfortable and to arrange a review appointment in 2 weeks.
The Implant System
Our implant system of choice varies according to the patients individual requirements. We will confirm with you the system we have selected to use for each case.
Assisting in Surgery
You may wish to and are welcome to observe the surgical phase, provided this meets the requirements of normal surgical protocol. Where appropriate, you may wish and are welcome to assist in the surgical procedure.
Restorative Phase
Following the appropriate healing phase, the restoration can take place. The restorative phase may consist of several appointments depending on the complexity of the case. Part of the success of any case is the communication between the dentist and the chosen laboratory. It is, therefore, essential that the chosen technicians have the necessary training and appropriate experience to undertake this type of work.
Your Involvement
Many referring dentists wish to undertake the restorative phase of treatment themselves. In addition to providing fee income for the referring dentist it allows a continuing clinical involvement in the case. We welcome this as part of our ethos of working together with our referring dentists. We are happy to provide mentoring to any referring dentist wishing to gain additional clinical skills and experience.
Monitoring Implants
Good oral hygiene is a vital factor in the long term success of any implant. It is important that the treating clinician continues to monitor the patient to ensure they are looking after their implant effectively and efficiently with meticulous oral hygiene. It is imperative that your hygienist has received the appropriate training to care for and instruct patients with implants and that the advice given is recorded on their notes.
